Trivia Dating is Australia’s hottest new dating concept. It’s full of fun; can prove exciting; is a great way to meet others in a non-intimidating environment… and it’s a great yet inexpensive night out!

Forget speed or online dating; Trivia Dating provides singles with a fun and relaxing environment in which to meet. There’s none of that awkward first time chit chat … it’s all about playing trivia games that are fun, engaging (and sometimes, just a little naughty).

how it works

Firstly, we aim to get an idea of age groups and genders when bookings are made. This helps us to tailor each event so you end up with the kind of crowd in which you’ll feel most comfortable. We take into account your age, your personality profile and even the age group of the people you'd like to date.

You can come on your own or bring friends. We then divide the whole group into mixed teams - the girls stay at designated team tables throughout Question Times, while the guys move from table to table throughout the night, hopefully imparting their genius, but at least getting to say ‘hi’ if nothing else.

You don’t need to be Einstein to answer the questions… they come in varying degrees of difficulty, from pretty simple to a bit harder, while some are just plain insane! We inject fun into the night by making some of the questions a bit risqué, but we don’t think there’ll be too many blushing blokes or mortified maidens. Over the two to three hours of a Trivia Dating event, we cover all kinds of topics from music and movies to current events and general knowledge, so there’s little doubt you’ll come up with plenty of answers.

We start with teams of 4 girls and 4 guys sitting at round tables so everyone can see each other and talk face to face.  There are three rounds of 10 questions before a break, each lasting about 15 to 20 minutes… so you have ample time to both answer questions and have a chat. And we throw in a few games as well, (to help you get to know each other even better!).

We break for a bite on some tasty treats, then finish up with a further three rounds of trivia. We then tally up the scores and give out prizes for the top girls’ and guys’ team.  It’s pretty easy… you just keep your score from the previous round at each table change. 

After all that the bar stays open for a while longer, giving you the chance to continue talking with anybody you like who you met during the night and perhaps arrange to move on somewhere else for a longer discussion.

The first step is to complete our online registration form where you tell us a bit about who you are and the kind of people you’d like to meet.

There’s no charge to join the Trivia Dating community. You simply register so we can invite you to the very next suitable event that matches your preferences.

You’ll be emailed invitations to attend events created with you in mind and you can accept your invitation by replying to the e-mail. You can also view a full list of all upcoming events that match your preferences by visiting the events page.

Once you’ve accepted an invitation to a specific event, you may simply pay online by credit card or by direct deposit or cheque.

at the event

Your one commitment to a Trivia Dating Night is to turn up at the right venue at the right time (around 7pm for a 7:30pm start). You'll be greeted by your host, who’ll make sure you receive a complimentary drink to start the night, give you your name tag and let you know your table number for the first round. He or she will also make some early introductions to the other starters.

Before the event gets underway, you’ll be placed in a team and your host will explain again how everything will work on the night. ‘Match Cards’ will be provided to each participant, which allows you to discreetly write the names of the people you’re interested in.  These cards will be collected at the end of the event.  In the next day or two, you will receive an e-mail from Trivia Dating with the contact numbers and e-mail addresses of the people you enquired about.

If at any time during the night you decide you want to leave, no problem. As tables and teams are rotated at the end of every Question Time, you will always have the opportunity to leave discreetly at any time… (there’s no pressure on you to stay at all).

There’s not a lot to remember here, apart from the obvious… no using mobiles, iPhones or Blackberries to look up answers. That’s cheating. 

In terms of dress code, there are no regulations… they say you should ‘dress to impress’ and a Trivia Dating night is no exception. Smart casual is the best way to go, something that is both comfortable to wear and something you feel comfortable in.

Other than that, don’t hog the answer sheet and make sure you listen to your team mates’ answers. And there’s no need to rush the bar at every break. (We always give you time to fill empty glasses.)

Guys… when it comes time to move on to the next table, please do so as quickly as you can so we can get on with the night with the least amount of down time.

Registering to join the Trivia Dating community is absolutely free! You pay only for the events you choose to attend. Sometimes we’ll even extend a discount to you at certain events. (And there’s often ‘bring a friend’ special offers too.)

The normal cost of attending a Trivia Dating event is just $42 (AUD), which includes your first champagne, wine, beer or soft drink on arrival, scrumptious nibbles at the break, the nibbles provided will vary depending on the venue.
